Valuable collection of Farouk I

Valuable collection of Farouk I

It is well known that the history of gamblings goes back to langsyne. Many centuries ago residents of different states, especially kings and courtiers spent their time gambling. A lot of sources point that the King of Egypt and Sudan Farouk I was incredibly venturesome person. However, he couldn’t gamble too often as had to solve state affairs. After one game there were chips left in his pocket that he hadn’t managed to exchange for money before leaving a casino. The next time he visited the casino only in few months.

Casinos of the previous centuries changed a form and color of their chips from time to time in order to secure themselves against swindlers who could fake. When Farouk I visited the gambling house again he decided to exchange his chips. But he found out that chips he had, had already been demonetized and turned into souvenir ones. At that moment he decided he would collect them.

Since then he purposefully didn’t exchange a part of his chips and left them for the collection. Afterwards, Farouk I managed to collect a big fund of souvenir chips that could never be exchanged for cash. But the King of Egypt and Sudan was very proud of his collection. Nowadays, his heirs own it.
