The first gambling zones in Russia were opened in the 17th century

Actually, such a statement seems strange and absolutely impossible nowadays. However, some significant historical facts prove the opposite. It is safe to claim that Russia was a pioneer in the sphere of gambling zones creation, as they have been existing in our country since 1667.

The first gambling zone of Russia appeared in 1667 and became a good way to attract people to that territory and fill up region treasury. The strictest ban on gamblings existed practically in all Russian regions then. Everyone who wanted to gamble went to Siberia where they had a right to play. Due to an official gambling permission on that territory people could be fond of gamblings, they started working and settling down. Such activity affected the life and development of the Siberian region positively.

It is interesting to mention that the official permission on gamblings by Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich worked for a long time in Siberia. It is considered to be an important step in settling the region. All gamblers out of the Siberian region were overtaken by severe corporal punishments as there were practically no gamblers in Russia then.
