Casino game has become crucial for the physics world

Enthusiasm for gambling often takes the player not only practically all money, but also brings him a certain benefit. During long reflections over a game some visitors of a casino made interesting discoveries. The most striking example of that fact happened to Schoenberg and Gamow physicists.

Two scientists who had been working on the problem of neutrinos-new physical substances in 1940 visited "De Urca" casino. They were considerably tired of lasting experiments and calculations therefore decided to have a rest in the gambling house. Having made huge bets they didn’t manage to win. Good luck wasn't kind to them, so Gamow and Schoenberg decided not to tempt their fate again. They left a casino and got settled nearby. Disappointed with a loss Schoenberg took a piece of chalk and started to draw the game plot on a cloth thoughtfully. The physicist showed how easy money turned into chips and those in return quickly disappeared from players’ hands leaving them with nothing.

At that moment Gamow looked at the cloth. He immediately formulated an idea according to which the energy of stars could also easily turn into neutrino and leave for vacuum. In a few minutes the physicists were painting the basis of that process on the cloth which soon got "Urca process" name. The idea of Schoenberg and Gamow was highly appreciated among their scientists-colleagues.
