Only a fear to stay completely out of money held Claude Monet down and made him working as the messenger in a small village of Arkantej, France. That district was considered to be a suburb of Paris. In his spare time Monet painted several pictures that became very essential and brought lots of money only after his death.

The artist was fond of gamblings to earn huge money. After some training he managed to beat his competitors and win about 100 thousand francs. Such sum was really huge then. That howling success allowed Claude Monet to leave the office and become engaged in painting.
