The deaf-mute woman had to leave a game table

A popular Canadian Gateway's Cascades Casino gained notoriety in the recent past. The staff of that gambling establishment had to expel the deaf- mute woman from the hall where she was participating in a game. She was too active, and "chatted" with her deaf- mute mate without a stop. Such behavior became the reason of administration's reaction that caused many disputes among poker players and fans.

The requirement to speak only English which would be clear for all game participants was one of the main rules in Gateway's Cascades Casino. The woman who was deprived of the right to continue the game spoke finger language which was understandable only for her and her partner. It allowed to make up a prohibited collusion during the game.

The opponents of that couple immediately paid attention of the casino administration to them, so the staff warned the couple. However the woman didn't pay any attention to the words of the staff and continued her non-verbal conversation. After the second warning the leery players were turned out-of-doors. Right after that the lady sued as she was a deaf-mute and had no physical ability to communicate according to the casino's rules. After a long proceeding the court returned a verdict in favor of the casino. It offended both the claimant and many poker players.
