Omaha H

Rules Omaha H

1. The game is played with a white chip-button at the table, which defines one of the players as a dealer at the table. The dealer deals the cards. It is done by a stickman in a gambling establishment. The button is moved clockwise to the next player after each hand.

2. Before starting the hand, all the bets are brought to the pot, which are usually of two types: "blinds" (blind bets, which are placed only by the part of the players at the table) and/or "ante" (a mandatory initial bet for all the players). The amount of the bets is set by agreement of the players before the game, or, as it is common in online poker rooms, it is determined on default by the type of the table. The first, or small, blind is done by the player, who is to the left of the dealer. The second, or a big, blind has to be done by the second player, who is to the left of the dealer. In most games, the big blind is twice less than the smaller one.

3. At the beginning of the hand each player gets four pocket cards face down. The pocket cards may be used only by the player, to whom they have been given, and they have to be closed from other players’ viewing.

4. After finishing the hand, the player, who is to the left of the big blind, opens the action. This round is called a "pre-flop", in which the player assesses the chances, according to the pocket cards combination. All the players at the table are able to do some options: call – to equalize the stake of the previous player, raise – to increase the bet, check – to miss the lead, that is, to refuse from a new raise of the previous bet, fold – a refusal from the further action in the hand by fold. The action round is considered to be closed, when the players, except the ones, who has thrown up the cards, equalize the last raise of the bet.

5. The next round is known as the "third street" or "flop". Three community cards are dealt opened on the flop on the table, which can be used for combinations out of two pocket cards and three ones on the board by all the players, who estimates the chances and start the action. Another round of the action is started by the player, who sits to the left of the dealer.

6. At the end of the action on the flop, the fourth community card is dealt open. This is the beginning of the "fourth street" or the "turn". There is a new round of the action.

7. The end of the action on the turn leads to the open deal of the fifth community card. The action round is started, which is called the "fifth street" or the "river". This is the final round of the action in Omaha.

8. At the end of the action on the river, there is a showdown. The pot is won by the player with the best combination of five cards, from which two are the pocket cards, and three – the community ones. If two or more players have the hands of the same value, it leads to a draw, and the pot is shared between the players. The high-low pot of Omaha can be shared between the owners of the strongest and the weakest hand.

9. The distribution can be finished in any of the streets and without the showdown, if one of the players, as a result of the action, will force all of the opponents fold. In this case, the remained player gets the pot without opening the hole cards.

10. After the winner gets the pot, the dealer’s buttonis moved to the nextplayer clockwise around the table. A new hand is started.
